Alex Ocampo is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan in Statistics. His research interests include health disparities, especially along racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines. Joining the HealthMap team in 2012, he has been investigating novel surveillance methods for Malaria in Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa as well as working to develop a diversity metric for the CDC. Alex’s dive into public health began with a 3-month research fellowship in Ghana, where he investigated the role of traditional medicine in reducing maternal mortality with their Ministry of Health’s Center for Plant Medicine.
